The Senior Leadership Pathway is an immersive development program designed for established leaders seeking to enhance their impact, refine decision-making, and lead with clarity and influence in today’s fast-paced, complex business environment.

Through interactive workshops, personalised coaching, and strategic peer collaboration, this program empowers senior leaders to navigate the most pressing challenges while aligning their leadership behaviours with the evolving needs of the organisation. 

Throughout the leadership pathway, senior leaders will: 

  • Complete a leadership assessment 
  • Undergo a comprehensive debrief to gain insights into strengths and development areas
  • Participate in a series of in-person immersions, with topics tailored to the senior leadership cohort

The Moment

Our partnership with a large retailer’s food division in 2022 focused on delivering a Leadership Development Pathway (LDP) for their team of senior leaders. The program aimed to equip these leaders with the essential capabilities to navigate the volatility of the pandemic and beyond. 

Specifically, the learning initiative sought to:

  1. Develop an adaptive, concious leadership approach, underpinned by integral skills such as storytelling, courageous conversations, and influencing for better partnering
  2. Shift leadership mindsets from command-and-control to co-creative, collaborative, and authentic approaches.
The Method

Through a co-creation of the above learning objectives, we designed a peak learning experience for 50 leaders across the organisation. It took the form of a leadership development pathway in which participants immersed themselves in the thinking, behaviours, and leadership practices required to lead effectively and apply their skills directly to immediate contexts.

Designed to enable their leaders to become trusted coaches and facilitators and heighten their influence on the whole system through deepening levels of partnering, the LDP incorporated a range of mutually reinforcing elements including a leadership retreat, learning intensives, and executive coaching.

The selected leaders would learn how to maximise their impact within an agile model of squads, tribes, and chapters, while navigating a VUCA environment, hybrid work practices, and evolving business relationships.

The Measure

The pathway had a powerful ripple effect across the system. Impact reporting conducted at the beginning and end of the pathway, through surveys administered to participants and their direct reports, demonstrated an across-the-board improvement in a range of key metrics including purpose-led leadership, characteristics of psychological safety, conflict resolution, and recognition and appreciation of teams. Teams saw an immense benefit from leaders who were energised and equipped with the tools to empower performance.
